As most of you know, I am a great follower of the Bestinver management team and I like to pay great attention to all their talks, interviews and recommendations. Once again the Juan de Mariana Institute puts at our disposal an interview with Álvaro Guzmán de Lázaro, one of the key pieces in the management team of Bestinver, with the title "Investment and Value Investing". In this article I leave you the video with the interview with Álvaro Guzmán together with the list of questions he answers and a small compilation that I have made with phrases that I would like to highlight from the interview.
Interview with Álvaro Guzmán on Investment and Value Investing
In the interview, Álvaro Guzmán answers the following questions:
- What would you recommend to a young man?
- Can you achieve financial independence?
- Where is it possible to generate high returns?
- What are the principles of value investing?
- What do you think of other investment methods?
- Is the stock market a casino?
- Do you think that in Spain there is little financial culture?
- What is your opinion that the government punishes saving?
From the interview, I would like to highlight the following quotes from Álvaro Guzmán:
"I would recommend (to a young man) that they work on something for which they feel true passion"
"Bonds today do not seem like a very attractive investment"
"By doing things well and with little money, it is easier to generate profitability rates close to 25%"
"I would always recommend proximity as the first criterion when starting to invest"
"There is always a good, well-run and cheap company close to you"
"The stock market is a casino for those who do not know what they are doing"
"The jobs are generated by supply, not a demand that is artificially stimulated in one way or another"
By the way, I discovered this interview thanks to Zapakondi, who first published it on his blog "Where the world is moving”, So from here I thank you and I recommend everyone to visit your blog.
